Coal & gas mining is more polluting than any other sector because of its huge carbon and methane emissions. While ordinary Australians face the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and communities are hit with worsening floods, fires and droughts, wealthy coal & gas companies are knowingly polluting potent methane and putting communities at risk.
The good news is there’s lots of ways to cut methane pollution without putting pressure on communities. Coal & gas corporations have the technology to measure and reduce methane pollution today and solutions cost only a fraction of mining corporation profits. Our governments need to hold corporations like Whitehaven, Glencore and Santos to account on their methane pollution by requiring accurate methane measurement and charting a methane reduction pathway.
We have the solutions that can get Australia’s coal & gas mining to Methane Zero. The next step is action.
